Kaduna Polytechnic Academic Board Updates Admission Clearance Criteria for HND Candidates
The Academic Board of Kaduna Polytechnic has issued a critical update regarding the clearance of Higher National Diploma (HND) candidates and the calculation of mandatory industrial experience waiting periods.
Following its 117th meeting held on April 22, 2026, the Board clarified that the "waiting period" for National Diploma (ND) graduates seeking HND admission will now be calculated based on the effective date of the candidate's ND result relative to the date of their admission letter. This directive supersedes previous communications that utilized the Admission Panel Meeting date as the benchmark.
In a move to accommodate students affected by these regulatory adjustments, the Polytechnic has granted a special pardon. Candidates who have already paid school fees and completed their registration—but fail to meet the required nine-month or eighteen-month waiting period—are permitted to defer their studies.
Specifically, these students are authorized to defer their admission from the 2025/2026 academic session to the 2026/2027 session.
The deferment option ensures that students who have already made financial commitments to the institution are not penalized for gaps in their industrial training timeline.
The management has directed all Deans of Colleges, Heads of Departments (HODs), and the Directorate of ICTC to take necessary actions to implement these changes immediately.
