Kano State Government Addresses BUK and Rimin Zakara Land Dispute

The Ministry of Land and Physical Planning, Kano State, hosted a high-level committee meeting to address the ongoing land dispute between Bayero University, Kano (B.U.K), and the Rimin Zakara community. The meeting, chaired by Hon. Commissioner for Land, Abduljabbar Umar, took place on July 21, 2025.

The committee reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to finding a lasting solution to the dispute. They also emphasized the protection of all core historical settlements in the Rimin Zakara community.

Plans have been made for a new and organized layout for the resettlement and compensation of affected residents and property owners. The committee's efforts aim to bring a peaceful resolution to the dispute.
