The Chairman of the Kano/Jigawa Community Development Association in Borno State, Alhaji Nata’ala Nasado, led members of the association on a courtesy and congratulatory visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Kashim Ibrahim University (KIU), Professor Babagana Gutti.
Speaking, the Chairman Alhaji Nata’ala congratulated the Vice-Chancellor on his appointment which he described as well deserved.
He explained that the association was formed during the peak of the Boko Haram Insurgency with the aim of enlightening their people on the importance of education, peaceful coexistence and community development.
Alhaji Nata’ala appealed to the Vice-Chancellor to consider children of their community members during admission exercises, particularly orphans and less-privileged students whom the association has been supporting through the payment of school fees and educational materials.
He reaffirmed that Borno State remains their home and expressed continued prayers for peace and progress in the state.
In his response, Professor Babagana Gutti appreciated the association for the visit and their commitment to promoting education.
He emphasized that peace transcends tribe and religion, stressing the collective responsibility of all to ensure children are enrolled in school.
“University education is for everyone, and I assure you that any qualified candidate from your community will be considered for admission,” the Vice-Chancellor said.
He further mentioned that the university has introduced the JUPEB programme, which provides an opportunity for students who pass the examination to gain direct entry into 200 levels and advised them to encourage their children to enroll.
