KHAIRUN Commemorates 2025 World Toilet Day with Public Lecture on Sanitation and Cleanliness
The Guidance and Counselling Unit of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN) has organised a special lecture to commemorate the United Nations' “World Toilet Day” on Wednesday, 19th November, 2025.
The lecture, themed “The Essential Role of Safe Toilets and Sanitation Systems in Building a Fairer, Healthier and More Peaceful World,” was delivered by a renowned sanitarian, Tijjani Uba Isa. The session highlighted the global importance of proper sanitation, access to safe toilets, and the collective responsibility of communities in promoting hygiene for a healthier society.
Declaring the event open, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, noted that the university deemed it important to join the international community in marking the 2025 World Toilet Day. He emphasized the need for staff, students, and the entire university community to uphold high standards of cleanliness across the campus, particularly in hostels and common facilities.
Professor Garba further stated that KHAIRUN aims to graduate students who excel holistically, not only academically but also in character and personal discipline. He reiterated that the university will take pride in producing graduates who have memorised portions or the entire Holy Qur’an, demonstrate outstanding morality, possess strong entrepreneurial capacity, communicate fluently in French and Arabic, and maintain excellent standards of cleanliness.
He concluded by encouraging students to remain focused on their studies and to uphold good values that reflect the ideals of KHAIRUN.
The event underscored KHAIRUN’s commitment to promoting a clean, safe and healthy learning environment, as well as alignign with global practices that foster responsible and hygienic communities.
