KHAIRUN Partners with BUK for National Colloquium on Science and Technology Education
The management of Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano (KHAIRUN), led by its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, on Tuesday, 10th March, 2026, visited the Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Professor Haruna Musa, for a brief meeting to discuss a proposed academic initiative by the management of KHAIRUN.
Speaking during the meeting, Professor Abdulrashid Garba stated that the purpose of the visit was to brief the BUK Vice-Chancellor and seek his consent and continued support regarding a project proposed by the management of KHAIRUN. He acknowledged the significant role played by Bayero University in the development of private university education in Kano State, noting that KHAIRUN remains deeply grateful for the tutelage, training, and mentorship it has received from BUK and its leadership.
He further revealed that the university plans to organize a Colloquium on Science and Technology Education in Nigeria. According to him, the colloquium will provide a platform for meaningful discussions on advancing science and technology education in the country.
Professor Garba added that the event will also serve as an opportunity to honour Professor Haruna Musa in recognition of his contributions and the role played by Bayero University in supporting the growth of private education in Kano State and beyond.
He concluded by requesting the BUK Vice-Chancellor approval to constitute a joint committee comprising members from both institutions to facilitate the planning and successful organization of the proposed colloquium.
In his remarks, the Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University, Professor Haruna Musa, warmly welcomed the KHAIRUN delegation and noted that BUK is proud to be associated with KHAIRUN, particularly considering the milestones recorded by the university, especially following the assumption of office by Professor Abdulrashid Garba as Vice-Chancellor.
Professor Musa reaffirmed his personal commitment, as well as that of Bayero University, to support progressive initiatives from KHAIRUN. He described the idea of organizing a colloquium on science and technology education as timely, especially at a time when the world is rapidly advancing in science and technology.
He noted that Nigeria must make deliberate efforts to strengthen and promote science and technology education in order to keep pace with global developments. He therefore expressed happiness that KHAIRUN has taken the initiative to champion such an important academic discourse and assured the delegation of his full support towards the success of the event.
The BUK Vice-Chancellor also expressed heartfelt appreciation for the plan to honour him during the colloquium, describing it as a humbling recognition of his modest contributions towards the development of private education in Kano State and beyond.
He concluded by congratulating Professor Abdulrashid Garba on the achievements recorded by KHAIRUN under his leadership and wished the university continued success.
