Kogi State Governor Commiserates with Federal University Lokoja Over Felele Accident

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has visited the Federal University Lokoja to offer condolences following the tragic loss of six students in a road crash along the Felele route.

The governor, represented by Deputy Governor Joel Salifu, assured the students that the government is committed to ensuring their safety and well-being.

Governor Ododo has established a committee to address the challenges faced by institutions along the Felele route. The committee comprises representatives from the state government, Federal University Lokoja, and other stakeholders. Their primary objective is to develop a permanent solution to prevent such accidents from recurring.

The governor has instructed the Managing Director of Kogi Road Maintenance Agency to evaluate the road for the construction of pedestrian bridges. Additionally, the State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps has been directed to establish checkpoints to regulate vehicle speed on the road.

Governor Ododo has pledged to collaborate with the federal ministry of works to address the issues and provide a lasting resolution to the road challenges. The governor's swift response to the tragedy has been acknowledged by the university community, particularly his directive to halt daytime truck movements within the state .
