Kwara State University Celebrates World Tourism Day 2025

The Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, has stressed the importance of eco-friendly investments and sustainable management of Nigeria’s rich tourism resources.

Professor Jimoh made this assertion on Monday, September 29, 2025, when the University celebrated the 2025 World Tourism Day with the theme: “Tourism and Sustainable Transformation.” 

The Vice-Chancellor emphasized that KWASU'S commitment to global best practices is equipping its students to become the next generation of tourism professionals "who will create jobs, empower communities, and safeguard Nigeria's heritage".

The keynote speaker at the event, Dr. Samuel Akinlaja highlighted the importance of collaboration between government, academia, and investors in transforming the tourism landscape in Nigeria.

Dr. Modupeola Falabi, the Head of Department Tourism & Hospitality, Kwara State University, reminded guests that this global celebration reflects tourism's key role in economic development and cultural preservation.

Guests were entertained by vibrant performances from Kwara State Arts & Culture and the Balaro Heritage Drummers.
