KWASU Vice-Chancellor Hosts Trade Unions and Student Leaders to Iftar; Calls for Unity
The Vice-Chancellor of Kwara State University, Malete, Professor Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh has described the cooperation of unions in the University as central to the achievements of his administration.
Professor Jimoh disclosed this in his welcome when he hosted KWASU chapter executives of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT), the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) and student union executives to a breaking of fast (Iftar) at his residence on Friday, March 13, 2026.
The Vice-Chancellor noted that the commitment of the unions to the institution has contributed significantly to the progress and stability of the University, thanking the union executives for encouraging their members to give their best to the University.
Professor Jimoh emphasised the importance of unity and collaboration in achieving the University’s goals, stressing that a peaceful and supportive environment is essential for both organisational growth and professional development.
Delivering the Ramadan sermon, the Head of the Department of Religions at Kwara State University, Malete, Dr. Khalid Bello reminded Muslims that human beings were created by Allah primarily to worship their Creator.
Dr. Bello explained that fulfilling responsibilities, keeping promises, and demonstrating dedication to duty were also forms of worship, just like fasting and prayer.
He urged Muslims to remain steadfast in observing the tenets of Islam and called on KWASU staff to perform their duties diligently as part of their religious and moral obligations.
