Lagos State University (LASU) has announced Professor Anthony Ojekale as the new Dean of the Faculty of Science.

A distinguished Professor of Biochemistry from the Department of Biochemistry, Professor Ojekale was elected unopposed on Tuesday, 20th January 2026, at the Conference Hall, Faculty of Science New Complex, LASU Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos.

The election followed a peaceful and seamless voting process, presided over by the Faculty Officer and Returning Officer, Mrs. Zaynab Ashiru-Mobolaji. Out of 135 eligible voters, Professor Ojekale received 73 affirmative votes, officially confirming him as the Dean-elect.

The outgoing Dean, Professor Moses Akanbi, at the last Faculty Board meeting he chaired, called on all faculty members to extend maximum support to the incoming Dean. He also expressed gratitude for the cooperation received during his tenure and wished Professor Ojekale success in his new role.

Professor Ojekale is set to assume office on Thursday, 29th January 2026, for a tenure of two years, during which he will lead the Faculty of Science in advancing academic excellence, research, and faculty development.

This appointment signals continuity and stability in the Faculty’s leadership, with the new Dean expected to build on existing achievements and drive further growth within LASU’s Faculty of Science.
