LASU Elects Professor Raimi Moronfolu as New Dean of Faculty of Education

The Faculty of Education, Lagos State University (LASU), has elected Professor Raimi Abiodun Moronfolu of the Department of Human Kinetics, Sports and Health Education as its new Dean.

The election was held on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the 3-in-1 Executive Hall, Faculty of Education, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos, in what the University described as a peaceful and transparent electoral process.

Professor Moronfolu emerged victorious after polling 79 votes to defeat Professor Simeon Adetunji Dosunmu of the Department of Educational Foundations and Counselling Psychology, who secured 57 votes.

The election concluded with the collation and official declaration of the results by the Returning Officer and Deputy Registrar/Faculty Officer, Mrs. Modupe Obayomi-Davies.

The electoral exercise was conducted peacefully, with members of the Faculty actively participating in the voting process.

Speaking after the election, Mrs. Obayomi-Davies commended faculty members for their impressive turnout, orderly conduct and commitment to transparency, institutional integrity and democratic participation throughout the exercise.

Professor Moronfolu's emergence marks a new phase in the academic and administrative leadership of the Faculty of Education.

As Dean, he is expected to provide strategic leadership aimed at strengthening the Faculty's academic reputation, promoting research and innovation, improving staff welfare and advancing student excellence.

The successful conduct of the election further reflects Lagos State University's commitment to participatory governance, institutional accountability and transparent leadership succession across its academic units.

The Vice-Chancellor, members of the University's Management, staff and students congratulated Professor Moronfolu on his election and wished him a successful and impactful tenure as Dean of the Faculty of Education.
