LASU to Host 8th Research and Innovation Fair on Artificial Intelligence

The Directorate of Research Management and Innovation, Lagos State University (LASU), under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, is set to host the eighth edition of the LASU Research and Innovation Fair.

LASU to Host 8th Research and Innovation Fair on Artificial Intelligence

The Directorate of Research Management and Innovation, Lagos State University (LASU), under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Distinguished Professor Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, is set to host the eighth edition of the LASU Research and Innovation Fair.

The two-day event will bring together researchers, academics, innovators, policymakers, students and industry experts to explore the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in driving national development.

The fair is themed, "Accelerating National Development through Artificial Intelligence-Driven Research and Innovation."

The sub-themes include:

  • Opportunities, Risks and Ethical Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Teaching and Research.
  • Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Agriculture, Healthcare, Energy and Human Resources.
  • Harnessing Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Security, Safety and Policy Transformation.

The event is scheduled as follows:

  • Date: Tuesday, September 8 and Wednesday, September 9, 2026.
  • Venue: Aderemi Makanjuola Lecture Theatre, LASU Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos.
  • Mode: Hybrid (Physical and Virtual).

The Chairman of the Occasion is Mr. Babatunde Ogala, SAN, OFR, Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Lagos State University.

The Keynote Speaker and Special Guest is the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Kadri O. Hamzat.

Guest speakers include:

  • Professor Folasade T. Ogunsola, OON, FAS, Vice-Chancellor, University of Lagos.
  • Professor Humphrey A. Adebayo, FAAS, FAS, PhD, Immediate Past Vice-Chancellor, Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State.
  • Professor Ibrahim A. Adeyanju, MD/CEO, Galaxy Backbone Limited, Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy (FMCIDE), Abuja.

The organisers announced the following early-bird participation fees:

Staff:

According to the organisers, late registration will commence on Monday, August 3, 2026, and will attract an additional fee of ₦10,000.

The fair also offers sponsorship opportunities under the following categories:

  • Diamond – ₦750,000
  • Gold – ₦500,000
  • Silver – ₦250,000
  • Bronze – ₦150,000

Interested participants have been invited to submit a one-page abstract of not more than 300 words in MS Word format on the conference theme or any of the listed sub-themes.

The deadline for abstract submission is Friday, July 31, 2026.

Abstracts must be structured under the following headings:

  • Objectives
  • Methods
  • Results
  • Conclusion

The organisers stated that registration payment must be made and verified before abstract submission, adding that only individual registration and payment will be accepted.
