The Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University, Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, has urged newly admitted Sandwich Degree Programme students to embrace discipline, consistency, and hard work as non-negotiable requirements for academic success.

She gave the charge on Friday, April 10, 2026, during the matriculation ceremony for the 2025 Modular Year Sandwich Degree Programmes held at the Buba Marwa Auditorium, Ojo campus, where the students were formally inducted into the university.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Oseni Afisi, the Vice-Chancellor stressed that success in the programme would not occur by chance but must be deliberately earned through sustained effort and personal sacrifice.

She described matriculation as more than a ceremonial event, calling it a formal agreement between students and the institution that demands strict adherence to discipline, academic regulations, and a commitment to knowledge acquisition.

Highlighting the structure of the Sandwich Degree Programme, she noted that it is designed for individuals combining academic work with professional or personal responsibilities, a dual demand she said requires strong time management and resilience.

The Vice-Chancellor also reiterated the university’s zero-tolerance policy on misconduct, warning against examination malpractice, cultism, and other forms of indiscipline, while advising students to be mindful of their associations.

He said the programme is structured to provide targeted support that enhances both academic performance and personal development.

The ceremony concluded with the administration of the matriculation oath, officially inducting the students into the university community.
