LASU Vice-Chancellor Inaugurates LOC for 2026 International Conference of Community Psychology
The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, has inaugurated the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2026 11th International Conference of Community Psychology (ICCP), scheduled for late August to early September 2026.

The Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University (LASU), Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, NPOM, has inaugurated the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 2026 11th International Conference of Community Psychology (ICCP), set to take place between the last week of August and the first week of September 2026.
The inauguration ceremony, held on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at the Vice-Chancellor’s office on the 6th floor of the Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, marked the formal commencement of preparations for the prestigious global event.
In her address as Chairman of the LOC, Prof. Olatunji-Bello emphasized the significance of hosting the conference, stating, "This will be the first time LASU is hosting the International Conference of Community Psychology, and we are proud to have won the hosting rights. LASU is a brand that must be projected positively, and we must ensure that this conference reflects our university's global reputation."
She further revealed that the conference would bring together over 200 participants from approximately 25 countries, adding that LASU is committed to delivering an outstanding event. "We will do our best to host the entire world," she assured.
Joining virtually from the United States, the President-Elect of the Society for Community Research and Action commended LASU on securing the hosting rights and pledged full support for the successful execution of the international conference.
The Alternate Chairman of the LOC, Prof. Temitayo Adewuyi, expressed appreciation for the Vice-Chancellor's leadership and assured that the committee would work diligently to make the conference a remarkable success.
It is noteworthy that on February 17, 2025, Prof. Olatunji-Bello appointed the members of the LOC, with herself as Chairman and Prof. Adewuyi as Alternate Chairman. Other members of the committee include Prof. Olayinka Atilola, Prof. Noel Adeoye Setonji, Prof. Tunji Azeez, Prof. Oluwatoyin Enikuomehin, Dr. Olayinka Goodman, Hon. Bonu Solomon Saanu, and Mr. Azeez O. Ganiyu, who serves as Secretary.
With preparations officially underway, LASU is set to make history as it hosts the 2026 ICCP, reinforcing its position as a leading academic institution in Nigeria and beyond.
