Lead City University Honours Prof. Grace Olufunmike Oloukoi With Scholar of the Year Award 2025
Lead City University has conferred the Scholar of the Year Award 2025 on Prof. Grace Olufunmike Oloukoi, a Professor of Urban Planning and Environmental Management in the Faculty of Environmental Design and Management.
Lead City University has conferred the Scholar of the Year Award 2025 on Prof. Grace Olufunmike Oloukoi, a Professor of Urban Planning and Environmental Management in the Faculty of Environmental Design and Management.
Prof. Oloukoi, who served as the Pioneer Dean of the Faculty from 2020 to 2024, was recognised for her outstanding scholarly contributions, leadership, and sustained impact in the fields of urban development, environmental management, and sustainable planning.
A respected academic and thought leader, she has played a significant role in advancing national and global discourse on climate resilience, environmental governance, and sustainable cities. At the professional level, she serves as the First Vice Chairman of the Association of Women Town Planners in Nigeria.
She is currently a Co-Principal Investigator on the Climate Adaptation and Resilience (CLARE) project titled “A Pan-African and Trans-disciplinary Lens on the Margins: Tackling the Risks of Extreme Events (PALM-TREEs),” funded by the International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and the United Kingdom’s Foreign Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO).
The university described Prof. Oloukoi as a distinguished scholar and mentor whose research output and academic leadership have strengthened Lead City University’s reputation and inspired students and fellow scholars across disciplines.
The award forms part of activities marking the university’s 18th Convocation Ceremony and reflects the institution’s commitment to recognising excellence, innovation, and impactful scholarship.
