Meet Professor Lawan Bala Buratai Vice Chancellor of Nigerian Army University Biu

The Nigerian Army University Biu (NAUB) has appointed Professor Lawan Bala Buratai as its new Vice Chancellor. A distinguished academician and administrator, Professor Buratai brings over three decades of experience in academia and leadership.

Born in 1960 in Buratai village, Biu Local Government Area, Borno State, Professor Buratai's academic journey began at Buratai Primary School and proceeded to Government Senior Science Secondary School Biu. He earned his degree in Bio-Chemistry from the University of Maiduguri in 1986 and later obtained his Ph.D. in Bio-Chemistry from Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria in 2001.

Professor Buratai's academic career spans several key milestones, including serving as a graduate assistant at the University of Maiduguri in 1987, rising to the rank of Senior Lecturer in 2002, becoming a Reader (Associate Professor) in 2007, and attaining professorship in 2011. He has also held various leadership positions, including Head of the Bio-Chemistry Department at the University of Maiduguri, Kaduna State University, and Federal University Dutse.

As a prolific researcher, Professor Buratai has published 50 well-written articles in reputable and peer-reviewed journals, attended several conferences, and mentored numerous students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Prior to his appointment as Vice Chancellor, he served as Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration at NAUB.
