Michael Adekola & Haneefah Sanda Emerge as Mr. and Miss UNILAG 2024

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) witnessed a night of glamour and excitement as Michael Adekola and Haneefah Sanda were crowned Mr. and Miss UNILAG for the 2023/2024 academic session. The prestigious event took place on Friday, July 5, 2024, at the Indoor Arena of the UNILAG Sports Centre, drawing a vibrant crowd and showcasing exceptional talent.

The highlight of the evening was the announcement of Michael Adekola, a 400-level Chemistry student, as the new Mr. UNILAG, and Haneefah Sanda, a 200-level Mass Communication student, as Miss UNILAG. Both winners impressed the judges, emerging victorious from a competitive pool of over 30 contestants.

In the Miss UNILAG category, Jesutoni Olagunju, a 200-level student from the Department of Linguistics, African and Asian Studies, secured the 1st runner-up position, while Genevive Akwuobi, a 200-level Science and Technology student, was named the 2nd runner-up. For the Mr. UNILAG category, James Aderiye, a 300-level Chemistry Education student, and Peter Onyekachukwu, a 200-level Adult Education student, were awarded the 1st and 2nd runner-up titles, respectively.

The pageant was a dazzling affair, with contestants showcasing their talents in a choreographed performance and parading in Urban-Corporate, Sports, and Traditional attires. The lively atmosphere and spirited competition captivated the audience, which included UNILAG Vice-Chancellor Professor Folasade Ogunsola, OON, FAS, and Dean of Students’ Affairs Professor Musa Obalola.

The Mr. and Miss UNILAG Pageantry Contest remains a celebrated tradition at the University of Lagos, highlighting the beauty, talent, and intellect of its students. This year's event was a testament to the university's vibrant culture and commitment to excellence.
