NASU YUMSUK Donates Mosquito Repellant to University Security Personnel
The Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano (YUMSUK) branch, has once again demonstrated its commitment to the well-being of the university community.
In a gesture to address a pressing concern, the union presented mosquito repellant to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa, for distribution to the university's security personnel.
The presentation ceremony, held at the Vice-Chancellor's office, saw the NASU Secretary, Ahmad Suraj, and Union Executive Member, Iliyasu Lawan Hassan, officially hand over the repellant. The donation comes in response to numerous complaints from staff, particularly the security personnel stationed at the City Campus, regarding the increasing nuisance of mosquito bites.
The Vice-Chancellor Professor Mukhtar Atiku Kurawa expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the union's thoughtful contribution. He commended NASU for its proactive approach to addressing the needs of the university staff, particularly those in roles that demand outdoor presence, such as security personnel. "This is a gesture worthy of emulation," the Vice-Chancellor remarked, highlighting the union's consistent efforts in ensuring the welfare of its members and contributing positively to the broader university community.
Also present at the event was the University Registrar, Adm. Isyaku Adamu, who praised NASU for its dedication and urged other unions and associations within the university to follow suit in addressing staff welfare concerns.
The provision of mosquito repellant is expected to significantly improve the working conditions of the security personnel, who have been particularly affected by the mosquito problem at the City Campus. The union's swift response to the issue has been lauded as a timely and practical solution.
This initiative by NASU is yet another example of the union's commitment to the well-being of the university community, reinforcing its role as a key player in the ongoing efforts to enhance the quality of life and work environment at Yusuf Maitama Sule University Kano.
