National Open University of Nigeria Holds Financial Bid Opening for Fibre Optic and Other Projects

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) conducted its 2025 financial bid opening exercise for Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Special Intervention projects on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the Senate Building Conference Hall, NOUN Headquarters, Jabi, Abuja.

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) conducted its 2025 financial bid opening exercise for Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) Special Intervention projects on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at the Senate Building Conference Hall, NOUN Headquarters, Jabi, Abuja.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Prof. Chiedu Mafiana, explained that the exercise was designed to ensure transparency at every stage of the procurement process. He acknowledged the presence of observers and emphasized that the procurement process aims to award contracts to the most qualified bidders. Prof. Mafiana also expressed appreciation to TETFund for its continued support and partnership with the University.

The Director of Procurement, Ms. Dinah Abbas, stated that the projects under consideration included the provision of fibre optic network data and internet connectivity for selected study centres across the University. The initiative will equip study centres in the North-central, South-west, South-south, North-east, South-east, and North-west regional hubs with fibre optic networks and data centre equipment.

Ms. Abbas also highlighted the proposed rehabilitation and furnishing of the Ezeoke-Nsu Community Study Centre in Imo State as part of the bidding exercise. She noted that the technical evaluation had been completed on October 15, 2025, and the current exercise focused on reviewing the financial bids.

The bid opening reinforces NOUN’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and improving infrastructure across its network of study centres nationwide.
