UNIPORT Warns Public Against Fake Facebook Account Impersonating Vice-Chancellor

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has warned members of the public against a fake Facebook account impersonating its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Chike Princewill R. Chike.

In a press release dated October 9, 2026, the university said its management had been alerted to the unauthorised account, whose operators were reportedly sending messages to unsuspecting members of the public in the Vice-Chancellor’s name.

UNIPORT clarified that Professor Chike does not operate a Facebook account, stressing that the account in question is fraudulent and has no affiliation with the Vice-Chancellor or the university’s management.

The university urged the public not to respond to messages from the account, send money, disclose personal or financial information, or engage in any transactions with its operators.

It also dissociated the Vice-Chancellor and the university management from the account and any activities carried out through it.

Members of the public were advised to remain vigilant, report the fake account to Facebook and verify official information through the university’s recognised communication channels.
