The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has announced that its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olufemi A. Peters, has been awarded the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) 2025 Individual Prize of Excellence.

The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has announced that its Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olufemi A. Peters, has been awarded the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) 2025 Individual Prize of Excellence.

The award was presented during the ICDE Award Night in Wellington, New Zealand, on Wednesday.

Professor Peters was recognised alongside Professor Josep Duart for outstanding leadership and contributions to open and distance education at national, regional, and global levels over the past five years. The ICDE Prize of Excellence honours individuals who have demonstrated excellence in inclusive, scalable, and sustainable education.

The ICDE awards are given in three categories: institutional, individual, and life-long contributions. Recipients are selected through nominations by ICDE members and reviewed by an independent international jury appointed by the ICDE board.
