NBC Launches Youth Empowered Programme at FUTA

Officials of the Nigerian Bottling Company (NBC), led by Eriife Oluwabanjo, paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), Professor Adenike Oladiji, ahead of the commencement of NBC’s Youth Empowered Programme on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

The initiative, launched in 2017, is a flagship programme designed to equip Nigerian youth with essential skills, mindset, and networks to thrive in the modern workforce. The programme bridges the gap between academic training and real-world career readiness, emphasizing career readiness, entrepreneurship support, personal development, and industry access. FUTA was selected due to its reputation for producing technically proficient and innovative graduates.

During the courtesy visit, the initiative and avenues for collaboration were discussed. NBC drives the programme in partnership with FATE Foundation, a non-profit organisation focused on youth development.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Professor Sunday Oluyamo, the Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude to NBC for selecting FUTA to host the programme. She emphasized that empowering youth is vital for national progress and applauded the initiative’s focus on career readiness, entrepreneurship, and personal development.

Professor Oladiji further highlighted the importance of collective societal effort, noting that addressing national challenges requires active participation from all stakeholders, not just government intervention. She encouraged NBC officials to interact with students and contribute to university projects, reiterating appreciation for choosing FUTA as a host for the Youth Empowered Programme.

The initiative underscores FUTA’s commitment to fostering practical skills, innovation, and career preparedness among its students, aligning academic excellence with real-world opportunities.
