NERDC Executive Secretary Visits Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University, Kano

Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN), Kano, on Thursday, 2nd October, 2025, received the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC), Professor Salisu Shehu, on a courtesy visit.

During his remarks, Professor Shehu expressed his delight at visiting KHAIRUN and appreciated the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, for receiving him despite the short notice. He congratulated the university on its remarkable achievement of securing the permanent operational license, which he described as a major milestone in the institution’s journey. He further stated that his visit was aimed at fostering friendship, strengthening partnerships, and exploring avenues for collaboration between NERDC and the university. Furthermore, he shared a brief history of the council by highlighting its mandate and contributions to the advancement of education in Nigeria.

In his response, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba, expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for the successful meeting and thanked the Executive Secretary for the visit. He emphasized that as a young and dynamic university, KHAIRUN is ready and willing to partner and collaborate with NERDC in relevant areas of mutual interest. In addition, he assured that the university would provide adequate space and support for any workshops, seminars, or programmes that NERDC may wish to organize in the future. He also commended the laudable work of the council in strengthening Nigeria’s education system and offered constructive advice on key issues in the sector.
