Nigeria Cancer Society Pays Courtesy Visit to UCH Chief Medical Director
The University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, hosted the leadership of the Nigeria Cancer Society (NCS) for a courtesy visit to the Chief Medical Director (CMD), Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, on November 26, 2025.

The delegation was led by Dr. Foluke Sarimiye, consultant oncologist and newly appointed Chairperson of the Oyo State Chapter of NCS, with the National Chairman, Prof. Abidemi Omonisi, in attendance.
During the visit, Prof. Omonisi commended the CMD for completing his tenure as President of the Society for Gastroenterology and Hepatology in Nigeria (SOGHIN) and recognised his leadership achievements. He formally introduced Dr. Sarimiye as the new Oyo State Chapter Chair and conferred on Prof. Otegbayo the honorary title of Elder of the Oyo State Chapter in recognition of his contributions to healthcare.
The National Chairman highlighted the Society’s growth, noting that NCS now has active chapters in all 36 states of Nigeria and 14 international branches. He emphasised the Oyo State Chapter’s role in advancing cancer awareness, prevention, and early detection at the grassroots level and appealed to UCH for support in recruiting members and strengthening collaborative initiatives nationally and internationally.

Prof. Otegbayo expressed gratitude for the honour and reaffirmed UCH’s commitment to partnerships that enhance cancer prevention, early detection, treatment, and support services across Nigeria, describing the hospital as “an origin in the field of medicine.”
The visit reinforced the commitment of both UCH and NCS to collaborative efforts aimed at improving cancer care and public health nationwide.
