Nigerian Law School Student, Faith Alayande, Found Dead at Victoria Island Campus

Lagos Police have confirmed the death of 23-year-old Nigerian Law School student Faith Alayande at the Victoria Island campus. Investigation is ongoing.

The student, identified as Faith Alayande, was reportedly found unresponsive within the school’s hostel premises in the early hours of Friday, August 7, 2026.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos, Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the incident, saying the matter was reported to the police by the hostel authorities.

According to the police spokesperson, officers visited the scene following the report, while the deceased was subsequently taken to a morgue for preservation.

She said investigations had commenced to establish the circumstances surrounding the student’s death.

A separate account shared by security analyst Zagazola Makama also indicated that the incident was reported to the Victoria Island Police Division by the Chief Matron of the Law School at about 6:30 a.m.

The circumstances surrounding the student’s death have continued to attract attention, with the police expected to establish the facts through their investigation.

The incident has also renewed concerns about student welfare and the importance of accessible support systems within tertiary and professional education institutions.

The Nigerian Law School has not, at the time of filing this report, issued a public statement on the incident.
