NIRSAL Partners with Modibbo Adama University on Large-Scale Cattle Fattening Project
The Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Modibbo Adama University, Yola, to collaborate on a large-scale cattle fattening project.
The partnership aims to enhance livestock production and promote academic-industry collaboration in the region.
As part of the project, NIRSAL will provide funding and ensure access to a reliable market for the university's livestock output. A NIRSAL delegation recently visited the university to assess the designated site for the project. The initiative will commence with a pilot phase involving 300 cattle, with the facility designed to accommodate up to 1,000 cattle at full capacity.
NIRSAL's Group Head of Value Chain Optimization and Team Lead, Mr. Ibrahim Abdullahi, stated that the organization will support the university in accessing necessary funds for infrastructure development and project execution. The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Aliyu Bawuro Mustapha, expressed gratitude for the collaboration and assured the team of the university's commitment to maximizing the use of resources provided.
This partnership marks a significant step towards promoting agricultural development and strengthening industry-academia collaboration in the region.
