Nnamdi Azikiwe University Senate Elects Representatives to Vice-Chancellor Selection Board
The Senate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, has elected two representatives to serve on the Joint Council and Senate Selection Board for the appointment of a substantive Vice-Chancellor.

At the 240th Special Meeting held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, at the Zephaniah Mmadubuko Auditorium, the Senate elected Professor Lasbrey Asomugha of the Faculty of Medicine and Professor Obidimma Emmanuel of the Faculty of Law as its representatives.
The election results recorded 156 votes for Professor Lasbrey Asomugha and 140 votes for Professor Obidimma Emmanuel. Other candidates included Professor Joseph T. Nwabanne (Chemical Engineering) with 130 votes, Professor Kingsley Chilaka (Pharmacology) with 119 votes, Professor Theresa U. Anagbogu with 123 votes, and Professor Greg Obiamalu (Faculty of Arts) with 49 votes.
Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Carol Chinyelugo Arinze-Umobi officially declared the winners and confirmed that their names would be forwarded to the University Council for the next steps in the Vice-Chancellor selection process.
