Northwest University Kano Announces Mandatory Guidelines for Certificate Collection

The Management of Northwest University, Kano (now Yusuf Maitama Sule University), through the Office of the Registrar, has officially released the mandatory requirements and guidelines for the collection of academic certificates by its graduates. 

In a formal notice dated February 11, 2026, the university directed all eligible graduates to prepare for the collection exercise, which is scheduled to commence on Monday, February 16, 2026. To ensure a seamless process, the institution has outlined strict compliance measures that all graduands must follow. 

Graduates are required to present the following original documents for verification at the Office of the Registrar:

Original Statement of Result

Original Student Identity Card

Evidence of Payment: A non-refundable fee of Ten Thousand Naira (₦10,000) for the certificate. This payment must be verified by both the Bursary Department and the respective Faculty.

Proof of Gown Return: Documentation confirming the return of academic gowns or clearance for those who have previously submitted them.

The University emphasizes that the collection process is strictly personal. No certificates will be released to proxies or representatives under any circumstances. Furthermore, the management advised graduates to maintain the highest level of security for their documents, as certificates will be issued only once. The university will not entertain requests for re-issuance in the event of loss or damage.

The notice, signed by Jafaru Sule Muhammad, Head of the Directorate of Examination, Admissions, and Records (DEAR) on behalf of the Registrar, reaffirms the university’s commitment to academic integrity and the orderly issuance of its credentials.
