NOUN Cracks Down on Irregularities in Project Supervision
The National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) has taken a firm stance on irregularities observed during the 2024 undergraduate project moderation exercises.
In a memo signed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), NOUN has outlined key directives aimed at ensuring adherence to academic standards.
Some supervisors were found to be overseeing projects outside their areas of expertise, compromising the quality of supervision. Instances of uploaded score sheets being fake or altered were recorded. Several score sheets were submitted without the signature of the respective project supervisors. Some projects had incorrect supervisor names.
Study centers must compile and forward details of undergraduate students undergoing project supervision to the departments, including topics approved and assigned supervisors.Any changes in supervision must be reported to the department and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic).
Supervisors who undertake project supervision outside their approved areas will be removed from the Project Administration System (PAS) and won't receive remuneration.
Staff who assign students to supervisors outside their discipline or upload incorrect/unsigned score sheets will face disciplinary action.
