NSUK Alumni Celebrate Re-election of Distinguished Member into Leadership of Young Women of Africa
The Board of Trustees (BOT) and National Executive Council of the Nasarawa State University (NSUK) Alumni Association have proudly congratulated Amb. Asma’u Idris Omieza, a distinguished alumna, on her re-election as Regional Secretary, West Africa, and Country Head, Nigeria, of the Young Women of Africa (YWOA).
The Board of Trustees (BOT) and National Executive Council of the Nasarawa State University (NSUK) Alumni Association have proudly congratulated Amb. Asma’u Idris Omieza, a distinguished alumna, on her re-election as Regional Secretary, West Africa, and Country Head, Nigeria, of the Young Women of Africa (YWOA).

The YWOA is the largest young women’s movement across Africa, with members spanning the continent. Amb. Omieza secured her renewed mandate during the 5th Annual Continental Convention of YWOA, held at the African Union Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from 8–10 December 2025, where she was entrusted to continue demonstrating her exceptional leadership and advocacy for young women.
The convention, themed “Advancing Reparative Justice and Shared Prosperity for Young Women and Girls in Africa: Breaking Barriers Now and Building a Gender-Equitable Future,” also recognized Amb. Omieza with the Queen Nzinga Mbandi Award of Excellence, a prestigious Young Women Empowerment Award 2025, in acknowledgment of her outstanding contributions in Nigeria and the West Africa region.
Additionally, Nigeria was named Community Impact and Country of the Year, West Africa 2025, with Amb. Omieza representing the nation with distinction. The convention convened young women leaders from across Africa to chart strategies for empowering girls and promoting gender equity across the continent.

Amb. Omieza, an NSUK alumna and MSc student in Mass Communication, continues to bring pride to her alma mater through her exemplary leadership and advocacy.
The NSUK Alumni Association, under the leadership of Barr. Nuhu J. Egya, Notary Public, and the BOT led by Comrade JM Abbah, PhD CNA, extends its warm congratulations and best wishes to Amb. Asma’u Idris Omieza for a successful tenure and continued impact in the YWOA.
