NUC Team Visits UNIDEL for Accreditation Exercise

The University of Delta, Agbor (UNIDEL), on Thursday, May 21, 2026, played host to an accreditation team from the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Receiving the team during a courtesy visit at the Senate Chambers, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Eric Eboh, expressed profound appreciation to the NUC officials for what he described as a strategic intervention aimed at strengthening the Departments of Health Education, and Human Kinetics.

Prof. Eboh said the university was honoured by the visit and emphasized that the institution, despite being barely five years old, had continued to witness remarkable expansion in academic programmes and infrastructure.

In his remarks, the leader of the accreditation panel, Prof. Ernest Achalu, clarified that the mission of the NUC team was strictly professional and developmental, stressing that the exercise was not intended to victimise any institution.

“We are here on quality assurance. We are not here for witch hunting, but on a fact-finding mission. We have the mandate to objectively assess what is on the ground, and advise the management of UNIDEL on the programme going forward,” he said.

Following the interaction at the Senate Chambers, the NUC team proceeded on inspection visits to the Faculty of Education/Human Kinetics, the University Library and other critical facilities connected to the accreditation exercise.

Other members of the NUC delegation included Prof. Elvis Agbolahor and Mustafa Audu, NUC representative on the team.

Top management officials of the university who witnessed the visit included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Prof.Patrick Ijeh; the Registrar, Dr. Esther Akpojuvie; the Bursar, Dr. Sunny Ikeogwu; and the Librarian, Dr. Vera Okonoko.

Also present were Dr. Florence Omumu, Ag. Dean, Faculty of Education, Dr. Felicia Mormah, Ag. Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Peter Oboh, HoD Human Kinetics, Dr. Ismaila Okudaye, HoD Health Education; visiting professors and lecturers of the Departments.
