NWUK Pro-Chancellor Leads Delegation to Chancellor’s 70th Birthday, 7th Coronation Anniversary in Lafia

The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Northwest University Kano, Prof. Hafiz Abubakar, on Monday led a high-powered NWUK delegation to Government House Lafia for the 70th Birthday and 7th Coronation Anniversary of the University Chancellor, His Royal Highness Hon. Justice Sidi Bage Muhammad I, JSC (Rtd), CFR, Emir of Lafia Bare-Bari.

The event also marked the revered monarch’s retirement from public service, making it a triple celebration of a life dedicated to justice, leadership, and national service.

The ceremony drew distinguished personalities across Nigeria, including Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, who delivered the closing address, and Nasarawa State Governor Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, who hosted the occasion and paid tribute to the Emir’s leadership and contributions to national development. Borno State Governor Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum, other governors, traditional rulers, diplomats, and academics were also in attendance.

On Sunday, 21 June, NWUK Vice-Chancellor Prof. Amina Salihi Bayero had led the same delegation on a courtesy visit to the Emir’s Palace. The university team paid homage and presented specially prepared souvenirs in appreciation of the Chancellor’s support for NWUK’s growth.

“I really appreciate all that you have done. These are the best souvenirs presented so far in connection with this event,” the Emir said while welcoming the delegation.

NWUK said the visit and participation underscore the strong bond between the university and its Chancellor, whose wisdom and guidance continue to drive the institution’s progress.

The university joined thousands of well-wishers nationwide in honouring a distinguished jurist, respected traditional ruler, and visionary leader.
