NWUK VC Commissions Five Digital Transformation Projects, Launches LMS Studios

The Vice Chancellor of Northwest University Kano, NWUK, Professor Amina Salihi Bayero, has commissioned five major digital transformation projects designed to enhance administrative efficiency, financial management, academic quality assurance, and teaching and learning across the University.

The projects were commissioned on Monday, 14 September 2026, as part of the University’s ongoing efforts to implement the digital transformation component of the Vice Chancellor’s 14-point agenda, tagged PRECISE-WIND.

The commissioned projects comprise the Human Resources Management System, HRMS, Bursary Financial System, Lecturer Evaluation System under Quality Assurance, Anatomage Table for the Department of Human Anatomy, and the Anatomia Learning Management System, LMS, also domiciled in the Department of Human Anatomy.

The event was attended by some Deans of Faculties, Directors, Heads of various Units, members of the Digital Transformation Committee, and other members of the University community, including the Director of ICT, Dr. Abdulkadir Sufi.

The event commenced with a welcome address by the Chairman of the Digital Transformation Committee, Professor Ahmed Baita Garko, who welcomed members of the University community and other guests to the commissioning ceremony.

Professor Garko explained that the establishment of the Digital Transformation Committee was part of the Vice Chancellor’s vision to reposition the University through technology-driven innovation. He noted that the projects being commissioned represented significant milestones achieved within a remarkably short period.

He described Professor Amina Salihi Bayero as a digital-driven Vice Chancellor whose administration has continued to place strong emphasis on information technology and its application to university administration, teaching, research, and other critical operations.

The first presentation was delivered by Ibrahim Shehu Ibrahim of the ICT Directorate, who provided an overview of the digital transformation initiatives and the systems developed to improve institutional processes.

A detailed presentation on the Anatomage Table was subsequently delivered by Dr. Maryam Nasir of the Department of Human Anatomy. The presentation highlighted the table’s potential to revolutionise anatomy education by providing students and lecturers with an interactive, three-dimensional learning experience that complements conventional teaching methods.

In his remarks, the Director of ICT, Dr. Abdulkadir Abubakar Bichi, appreciated the Vice Chancellor and her team for their commitment to digital transformation and for providing the necessary leadership and support towards the realisation of the projects. He commended the initiative as an important step in strengthening the University’s technological infrastructure and improving service delivery.

Similarly, the immediate past Director of ICT, Professor Ishola Dada Muraina, expressed appreciation to the University Management and the Vice Chancellor for their commitment to advancing digital transformation at Northwest University Kano. He acknowledged the importance of the projects and commended the administration for its vision and efforts towards institutional development.

In her remarks, the Vice Chancellor expressed appreciation to members of the Digital Transformation Committee and all those who contributed to the successful development and implementation of the projects. She commended their dedication, commitment, and collective efforts in translating the University’s digital transformation vision into practical achievements.

Professor Bayero emphasised that digital transformation was no longer a matter of choice but a necessity for modern institutions seeking efficiency, competitiveness, and sustainable development.

"I have seen how Western countries are transforming using digital technology, and I feel that we can also do it. We have started from the Registry, Bursary, and Academic Planning, and we will continue to expand these efforts for the betterment of the University," she stated.

The Vice Chancellor further explained that information technology had the capacity to transform numerous aspects of university operations, adding that her administration remained committed to leveraging digital tools to improve service delivery, strengthen institutional systems, and create a more efficient and technologically advanced University.

In recognition of her leadership and commitment to digital transformation, the Digital Transformation Committee presented Professor Amina Salihi Bayero with an Award of Excellence.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Academics, Professor Aisha Garba Habib, thanked all those who attended the event and commended the Vice Chancellor for her interventions and the positive transformations taking place across the University.

Similarly, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Professor Tijjani Rufa’i Buhari, appreciated the Vice Chancellor and the Digital Transformation Committee for their outstanding work, describing the achievements as a testament to the commitment and dedication of all those involved.

Following the commissioning ceremony, the Vice Chancellor led members of the University Management and other guests to the launch of the University’s Learning Management System, LMS, studios, established to support online teaching, training, and the virtual delivery of academic content.

The University has established three LMS studios: one located at the ICT Office in the Senate Building, another at the Faculty of Science, and the third at the City Campus. The studios are designed to enable lecturers and trainers to record lectures, produce instructional materials, and deliver teaching and training programmes virtually.

The commissioning of the five digital transformation projects and the launch of the LMS studios mark another significant milestone in the administration’s efforts to modernise Northwest University Kano and position it to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving digital and knowledge-driven world.
