OGITECH Refutes AI-Generated Image of Campus Fire; Warns Against Misinformation

The Management of the Ogun State Institute of Technology (OGITECH) has issued an official disclaimer regarding a photograph circulating on social media which falsely depicts the institution's main gate engulfed in flames. 

In a statement released on Monday, January 19, 2026, the Institute’s Public Relations Officer, Gbadebo Adebayo Kolawole, clarified that the image is entirely AI-generated and does not reflect any past or present incident at the Igbesa campus.

Fabricated Content: The Institute confirmed the image is a digital manipulation intended to misinform the public and tarnish the school’s reputation.

Public Safety: Stakeholders, including students, parents, and alumni, are urged to disregard the misleading narrative to avoid unnecessary panic.

Legal Warning: Management warned that the creation or sharing of such fake imagery constitutes a cybercrime. The Institute is prepared to take legal action against individuals or platforms found circulating the content under Nigerian laws regarding defamation and misinformation.
