The Okun Welfare Association of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Kogi Area Office, has paid a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor of Federal University Lokoja, Professor Gbenga Ibileye, in a move aimed at strengthening institutional collaboration and community development within the state.

The delegation, led by the Chairman of the Association and Area Manager of NIWA Kogi Area Office, Engr. Bode Eniola Komolafe, congratulated the Vice-Chancellor on his appointment as the 4th substantive Vice-Chancellor of the university.
Engr. Komolafe described the appointment as a source of pride to the university community and the wider Okun ethnic region, expressing confidence in Professor Ibileye’s leadership capacity to elevate the institution’s academic and administrative standing. He assured the Vice-Chancellor of the Association’s full support and pledged continued partnership with the university in areas of mutual interest.
He further emphasized that, as federal institutions operating within the same environment, NIWA and Federal University Lokoja share complementary responsibilities that can be leveraged for broader socio-economic development of Kogi State and its people.
In his response, Professor Ibileye expressed appreciation for the visit and called for deeper collaboration between both institutions. Drawing from a Yoruba proverb, he stressed the importance of unity and coordinated effort, noting that collective strength remains essential for overcoming institutional and societal challenges.

He urged both organizations to maintain continuous engagement, describing the visit as a foundation for stronger institutional relations and long-term cooperation between NIWA Kogi Area Office and the university.
