PAAU VC Commissions Modern 60-Seat Relaxation Centre Named After Prof. Marietu Tenuche
In a landmark display of student-led developmental initiative, the Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Professor Salisu Usman Ogbo, officially commissioned a modern 60-capacity relaxation centre at the Faculty of Education on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
The facility, constructed by the Comrade Rilwan Abubakar Obaje-led Students Union Government (SUG), was named in honour of the institution’s former Vice-Chancellor, Professor Marietu Tenuche Ohunene, recognizing her contributions to the university’s growth.
A Milestone in Student Welfare
During the commissioning, SUG President Comrade Rilwan Abubakar Obaje emphasized that infrastructural development remains a core priority of his 2025/2026 administration. He reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing the campus experience and ensuring the welfare of all students under his jurisdiction.
The Dean of the Faculty of Education, Professor Lawrence Achimugu, and the President of the Education Students Association of Nigeria (ESAN), Comrade Solomon Victor Ojima-ojo, both lauded the project. Comrade Victor described the edifice—designed to be weather-resistant—as a "catalyst for more development" within the faculty.
VC Commends Pragmatic Leadership
In his remarks, Professor Salisu Usman Ogbo praised the SUG President's "pragmatic" leadership style, noting that the project reflects a genuine interest in student needs. The ceremony also featured the unveiling of customized notebooks by the Faculty of Education in honour of Professor Ogbo, symbolizing the faculty's appreciation for his leadership.
The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Professor Juwon Johnson Orugun, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academics), Professor Ojah Paul Egwemi, and other principal officers of the university.
