According to a statement issued by the state's police spokesman, SP Okasanmi Ajayi, on Sunday, October 9, the robbers attacked the students of the Kwara State University, at about 3am on October 7, in one of the hostels called ''Downtown'' and forceibly carted away with their properties.

20-years-old Ridwan was first arrested after the police traced them to their hideout while others took to their heels. Upon investigations, he revealed that he is the leader of the gang and eventually gave up the names and whereabouts of his members, Ibrahim Ridwan Akorede ‘M’ 25yrs, and Aliyu Abubakar Apalado ‘M’ 25yrs

Some of the items recovered from the suspects include One Locally made gun, One Jackknife and charms, and Eleven(11) Generators. Two (2) Motorcycles, One(1) small-size fridge, One(1) standing fan, One(1) pumping machine, Nineteen(19) iPhone 6 handsets, Three(3) iPhone11 handsets, Sixteen(16) iPhone 6 plus, Five(5) iPhone XR and other brands telephone handsets altogether totaling Eighty-seven (87) handsets, Ten(10) Laptops and Two(2) Television sets.

He explained that effort is still geared towards arresting the remaining members of the gang.
