Prof. Bako Inspects TSU CBT Centre Upgrade as Capacity Rises to 400 Systems

The Vice-Chancellor of Taraba State University, TSU, Jalingo, Prof. Sunday Paul Bako, has inspected the ongoing upgrade of the University’s Computer-Based Test, CBT, Centre at the main campus.

The upgrade is aimed at expanding the centre’s capacity from 250 to 400 computer systems, while improving its power supply and other facilities to support the smooth and efficient conduct of examinations.

As part of the upgrade, 200 additional computer systems are being installed at the centre. The project also includes the expansion of the solar power infrastructure, with plans to increase the solar capacity, as well as upgrading the inverter system from 10KVA to 30KVA.

The centre is also receiving 54 solar panels rated at 550 watts each, providing a combined panel capacity of approximately 29.7KW. In addition, about 300 safari chairs are being provided to improve seating arrangements and the overall examination environment.

Speaking during the inspection, the Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of having a well-equipped and reliable CBT facility capable of supporting the growing demand for computer-based examinations. He noted that a functional CBT centre is critical to enhancing academic integrity, reducing examination malpractices, and ensuring timely release of results.

Prof. Bako said the development is in line with his administration’s vision to strengthen digital infrastructure and integrate modern technology into the University’s academic and administrative operations. He added that the upgrade will reduce pressure during peak examination periods and provide a more conducive environment for students.

The upgraded centre is expected to serve as a major examination hub for Taraba State University and other examination activities within Taraba State, further strengthening the University's capacity to deliver technology-driven assessment in a conducive environment.

The project underscores the administration’s commitment to digital transformation, improved infrastructure and efficient service delivery at Taraba State University.

Management assured that work on the upgrade will be completed within schedule to enable the centre to accommodate the increased capacity for upcoming examinations.
