The Management Team, staff, and students of Ritman University have held a solemn candlelight procession to honour the late Dr. (Mrs.) Grace Emmanuel Essien, wife of the University’s Founder and Visitor, Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien, FNSE.

The Management Team, staff, and students of Ritman University have held a solemn candlelight procession to honour the late Dr. (Mrs.) Grace Emmanuel Essien, wife of the University’s Founder and Visitor, Senator Emmanuel Ibok Essien, FNSE.

The event paid tribute to a mother whose vision, compassion, and quiet strength were instrumental in shaping the ideals of the Ritman institutions. Participants, holding candles, walked in coordinated silence along designated campus routes, symbolising unity and the enduring light of the values she embodied. The procession concluded at the Founder’s residence, where attendees shared words of comfort, reflection, and solidarity with the bereaved family.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Akan B. Williams, delivered a heartfelt condolence remark, describing the late matriarch as a guiding force who believed in education as a transformative power. He introduced the pioneer Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Celestine A. Ntuen, and Co-Founder/member of the Governing Council, Engineer Sunday Umoh, who were also present.
