Sam Maris University VC Celebrates Nurses’ Role in Healthcare Delivery During 2026 Nurses’ Week

The Vice-Chancellor of Sam Maris University, Francis Gbore, has described nurses as indispensable pillars of the healthcare sector, commending their compassion, professionalism, sacrifice, and commitment to quality healthcare delivery.

Prof. Gbore made the remarks during the institution’s 2026 Nurses’ Week celebration held at the University Auditorium, where he praised nurses for their critical contributions to patient care and public health.

According to the Vice-Chancellor, nurses remain at the forefront of healing and recovery, often serving as the first point of care and emotional support for patients during medical treatment.

He noted that the dedication and resilience consistently demonstrated by healthcare professionals, particularly during periods of global health emergencies and crises, continue to underline the importance of the nursing profession within modern healthcare systems.

The VC also applauded nursing students of the university for their impressive practical demonstrations and active participation throughout the event, describing their performances as evidence of growing competence and professionalism within the institution’s healthcare training programmes.

Prof. Gbore further expressed appreciation to the organisers of the event and the guest speaker, M.M. Akinleye, for their contributions toward promoting health awareness, academic excellence, and professional ethics among students.
