Senator Okowa Praises UNIDEL Vice-Chancellor for Rapid Institutional Development

The immediate past Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, has commended Professor Stella Chiemeke, Vice-Chancellor of University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, for her accelerated development of the institution over four years.

The immediate past Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr.) Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa, has commended Professor Stella Chiemeke, Vice-Chancellor of University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, for her accelerated development of the institution over four years.

Senator Okowa made the remarks during the final of the late Tony Onyeagwu Football Tournament at the UNIDEL Mini Stadium, Agbor, on Saturday, 14th November 2025. He specifically highlighted the construction of the mini stadium, noting, “The last time I was here, this stadium was not built. I am overwhelmed and indeed, our people are happy with the administration of Prof. Stella Chiemeke.”

As Chairman of the event, Senator Okowa acknowledged Professor Chiemeke’s initiatives to enhance academic and infrastructural growth and urged staff and students to continue supporting her administration.

In response, Professor Chiemeke presented medals to officials and commended the Delta State Government for its continued commitment to educational development, particularly at UNIDEL.

The tournament final featured a match between Ekwuoma Primary School, Abavo, the defending champion, and Nosiere Primary School, Ime-Obi, Agbor. The game lived up to expectations, with both teams displaying impressive football skills. After a 1–1 draw in regulation time, Nosiere Primary School emerged victorious in the penalty shoot-out, converting two penalties to Ekwuoma’s one.
