Sule Lamido University (SLU), Kafin Hausa, is set to host an advocacy programme aimed at promoting environmental sanitation within the institution. The event, themed "Cleaner SLU Initiative: Advancing Environmental Sanitation Goals," is scheduled for Wednesday, February 19, 2025.
The Faculty of Social and Management Sciences (SMS), which is organizing the event, has lined up key speakers and stakeholders to discuss the importance of maintaining a cleaner and healthier university environment.
The Special Guest of Honour for the occasion is Dr. Nura Ibrahim Kazaure, Commissioner of Environment, Jigawa State, whose presence is expected to underscore the state's commitment to environmental sustainability. Additionally, the event will feature a guest lecture by Dr. Tanko Ahmed, FWS, an expert in environmental studies, who will shed light on best practices for sanitation and waste management.
The advocacy programme will be hosted at the Faculty of SMS Reception, starting at 10:00 a.m. prompt. The initiative is being led by Dr. Mustapha Hussaini, Dean of the Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, who serves as the convener of the event.
With environmental challenges becoming a growing concern in academic institutions, the Cleaner SLU Initiative aims to foster awareness, encourage responsibility among students and staff, and align with broader environmental sanitation goals.
