Two Nigerian Best Friends Achieve Academic Excellence with First-Class Degrees, Master’s Distinctions, and PhD Scholarships in the US

Gift Iyioku and Oluwakemisola Adeusi, two Nigerian best friends, have achieved extraordinary academic success together, earning First-Class Bachelor’s degrees, Master’s degrees with distinction, and fully funded PhD scholarships at Stanford University. 

 

Their journey began at the University of Ibadan, where they graduated with First-Class Honors in German Studies. They later earned Master’s degrees in German from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa, both achieving perfect 4.0 GPAs.

 

Supported by faculty during their PhD applications, the duo received glowing recommendations and guidance. They also secured the prestigious DAAD scholarship, funding a study period in Germany.

Despite missing their Alabama graduation due to DAAD commitments and facing financial challenges, their perseverance paid off. On January 25, 2022, both were admitted to Stanford’s fully funded PhD program with generous stipends.
