UCH Hosts 17th Biennial Flap Transfer and Microsurgery Workshop
The Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, has flagged off its 17th biennial Flap Transfer and Microsurgery Workshop, scheduled to hold from September 8–12, 2025, at the Prof. Oluwole Adebo Lecture Hall.
The Department of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, has flagged off its 17th biennial Flap Transfer and Microsurgery Workshop, scheduled to hold from September 8–12, 2025, at the Prof. Oluwole Adebo Lecture Hall.

The workshop, which was first organized in 1995 by Prof. F. O. Oluwatosin, Consultant Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon, has since become a biennial programme under the department in collaboration with UCH. The training course features didactic lectures, cadaveric dissections, large animal dissections using anaesthetized dogs, and microvascular anastomosis on rat femoral arteries.

It is primarily designed for Consultants and Senior Registrars in Plastic Surgery, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthopaedics, Otorhinolaryngology, Ophthalmology, and other reconstructive specialties.

This year’s edition hosts two international faculty members: Dr. Yemi Ogunleye from the University of North Carolina, USA, and Prof. Buncamper from a leading institution in Belgium, both renowned plastic and reconstructive surgeons.

Declaring the workshop open, the Chief Medical Director of UCH, Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, represented by the Chairman, Medical Advisory Committee, Prof. Olubukola Adesina, reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to its tripartite mandate of clinical services, research, and training. She assured that the management would provide all necessary support and assistance to enhance healthcare delivery and professional development.
