The Management of the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) has announced a temporary disruption in the issuance of PhD academic gowns ahead of its forthcoming convocation ceremony, citing an unexpected surge in demand that exceeded projected production figures.
In an internal notice, management explained that the situation arose from unforeseen circumstances linked to higher-than-anticipated requests for gown purchases. It added that efforts are ongoing to ensure the delivery of all gowns either before or shortly after the ceremony.
According to the statement, graduands who have already paid for the purchase of gowns are advised to remain patient while arrangements are being finalised to meet demand within a reasonable timeframe.
The University further disclosed that the Bursar has been directed to process immediate refunds for individuals who prefer to have their payments returned.

It also noted that contingency measures have been put in place to accommodate graduands who have paid either for purchase or hire, ensuring they are not excluded from participation in the convocation ceremony.
Management clarified that graduands who paid for purchase are not required to make additional payments for hire, adding that verification of payment receipts will be required for the collection of gowns.
The University expressed appreciation for the understanding and cooperation of graduands as arrangements are concluded, while extending congratulations and best wishes ahead of the ceremony.
