The management of University of Benin has announced plans to observe the public holidays declared by the Federal Government in commemoration of the 2026 Easter celebration.
The Federal Government designated Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark Good Friday and Easter Monday respectively.
In line with the directive, the university confirmed that academic and administrative activities will be suspended during the period. However, members of staff on essential duties are required to report to work as directed by their respective heads of departments and units.

Easter, a central event in the Christian calendar, commemorates the passion, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The season is widely regarded as a period symbolising sacrifice, renewal of faith, hope, and victory over death.
The institution encouraged members of its community to use the period for reflection and spiritual rejuvenation in line with the significance of the celebration.
