UNIDEL Faculty of Clinical Science Holds First Dedicated Orientation for MBBS Students

The Faculty of Clinical Science, University of Delta, (UNIDEL), Agbor, held its first formal 100 level orientation exercise for newly admitted students into the MBBS programme (unlike previous years when they had it with other medical students).

The orientation exercise which took place at the Faculty Building, saw the Dean Faculty of Clinical Science, Prof. Alexander. O. Naiho, in his opening remarks explaining the basic rudiments of the MBBS programme to the newly admitted students.

The Dean made it clear to the students that: "You can only survive in the medical profession if you do not give everything to it. When l mean everything, l mean everything. Your social life must die in order for you to achieve real excellence and progress."

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stella Chiemeke, represented at the occasion by the Chairman, University Admission Board, Dr. Michael O. Ejiodu, while

declaring the epochal event open, congratulated the students for making it into the MBBS programme of the University. She admonished them to take up the challenge to make their mark in the university, and equally make their parents and sponsors proud by the time they exit the citadel of learning at the conclusion of their programme.

Prof. Stella Chiemeke also warned the students to exhibit positive character on and off campus; even as they must pursue excellence in their studies, emphasizing that the medical profession was not meant for unserious elements.

The University Librarian, Dr. Mrs. Vera Okonoko, spoke to the students on the use of the Library. Prof. Alexander Naiho later in the day, took the students on discipline and overview of the MBBS programme, Mr. Chukwudi Aniemeke addressed the students on proper students conduct. Dress code in the Faculty was handled by Ms. Linda Onyesom, while Dr. tKenneth Ahamefune lectured the students on lecture attendance, practicals & continuous assessment.
