UNIJOS Suspends Non-Academic Activities in University Halls
The management of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) has announced the immediate suspension of all non-academic activities in the institution's university halls until further notice.
The management of the University of Jos (UNIJOS) has announced the immediate suspension of all non-academic activities in the institution's university halls until further notice.
The directive was conveyed in an internal memorandum issued by the Office of the Vice-Chancellor through the Information, Publications, Public Relations and Protocol Unit. The memo, dated July 28, 2026, was addressed to members of the University community.
According to the University, all staff, students, unions, and other users of the university halls are required to suspend the use of the facilities for non-academic activities with immediate effect.

The management stated that the suspension will remain in force until it officially announces its withdrawal, adding that a fresh notice will be issued when the halls are reopened for non-academic use.
While expressing regret over any inconvenience the decision may cause, the University appealed to members of the community for their understanding and cooperation during the period of the suspension.
UNIJOS also urged students, staff, and other stakeholders to comply fully with the directive and refrain from organising or participating in non-academic activities in the university halls until further notice from the management.
