UNILAG Hosts AI and Disability Dialogue

The Nigeria Artificial Intelligence Research Lab (Nigeria AILab) at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), in collaboration with the Centre for Disability and Inclusion Africa (CDAI), recently hosted a pivotal Focus Group Discussion centered on the intersection of Artificial Intelligence and Disability. 

The event, held on Wednesday, March 4, 2025, at the Arthur Mbanefo Digital Research Centre, brought together experts and stakeholders to explore how AI can be leveraged as a tool for empowerment rather than a barrier.

The dialogue focused on the necessity of embedding accessibility and inclusion directly into the design phase of AI systems. Participants discussed strategies to ensure that emerging technologies are tailored to meet the specific needs of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), aiming to foster a more inclusive digital future.
