UNILAG Issues Directive on Use of Campus Facilities for Video, Film, and Skit Productions

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) Management has issued a directive regulating the use of its premises and facilities for video shoots, film productions, skits, vox pops, and other cinematographic activities.

The notice follows reports of increasing unauthorized use of University premises, including hostels and academic areas, for such activities without formal approval.

According to the statement signed by Mrs. Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, Head, Communication Unit, on behalf of the University Management, UNILAG has established clear procedures guiding the use of its facilities for any form of recording or content production.

The guidelines, she said, are designed to ensure safety, maintain decorum, preserve the integrity of academic and residential spaces, and protect the image and reputation of the University.

All individuals or groups — including students, staff, or external collaborators — intending to carry out any recording or cinematographic activity on campus are required to obtain prior approval from the University. Requests for approval should be directed to the Communication Unit, 7th Floor, Senate House, UNILAG, Akoka.

While the University emphasized its support for creativity and responsible expression, it reiterated that all such activities must align with institutional guidelines.

Members of the University community and the general public were therefore urged to strictly comply with the directive in the interest of order, safety, and collective responsibility.
