In a significant move to honor the historical foundations of the institution, the management of the University of Ilesa (UNILESA) paid a high-level appreciation visit to the legendary historian and educationist, Professor Bolanle Awe, at her residence in Ibadan on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.

The delegation was led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Hon. Gbenga Onigbogi, FCA.

The visit was primarily aimed at expressing the University’s profound gratitude for Professor Awe’s instrumental role in the establishment of the defunct Oyo State College of Education, Ilesa. That institution later evolved into the Osun State College of Education before its eventual upgrade to the full-fledged University of Ilesa.
